The business capital of Germany, the most technologically advanced and modern city in the country. Its efficiency is called Chicago-on-Main or Main-hatten. But this does not mean that everything here is built of glass and concrete. For example, the cozy and picturesque area of Alt-Sachsenhausen is an old Germany in all its glory. Just do not be deceived by the sight of the local ancient architecture - in fact, there is hardly any building, as, indeed, in the rest of the city, over 50 years old.

                                             Frankfurt is worth visiting:

Frankfurt is often referred to as the German New York: skyscrapers, business centers and other ultra-modern buildings are much larger than the old sights. The last remained except in the historical center: the city was almost completely destroyed in the war and, despite the efforts of German restorers, can hardly be considered a pearl of European architecture.

Römer

An old town hall in Frankfurt am Main. For more than 600 years the building with a remarkable stepped pediment is a symbol of the city. The name of the Town Hall building was given by the average of three previously independent buildings, which is called the "House of the Romans" (German Haus zu Römer). The origin of the name of the central building remains vague, despite the fact that on the basis of historical research, many different, often contradictory versions were put forward. And "Romer" nevertheless for many centuries means for the Frankfurt am Main a complex of buildings of the town hall.

Stedele Art Institute
An art museum in Frankfurt am Main, one of the most significant collections of art in Germany. In the museum there are 2,700 paintings (600 of which in the current exposition) and 600 sculptures, the collection of graphics is about one hundred thousand works. The name of the artistic institute was named after its founder - the Frankfurt banker and merchant Johann Friedrich Städel. The purpose of the art institute is a public gallery and art school.

The Senckenberg Museum
A museum in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, named after the physician and patron of art Johann Senckenberg. The museum building was built in 1904-1907, outside the city near the university, founded in 1914. The museum has a large collection of dinosaur skeletons, the collection also contains findings from the Messel quarry. Interesting is the extensive collection of birds, a collection of meteorites and crystals.

Maintower
A skyscraper in the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The height of the skyscraper is 200 m, on the roof there is an observation deck. The height with the mast is 240 m. Maintauer is the fourth tallest skyscraper in Frankfurt. The building has four underground floors and 56 ground floors, the elevator rises to the top floor at a speed of 7 m / s.
Maintower is:
Headquarters of "Helaba Bank" (Hesse-Turing Land Bank);
TV studio of Hesse Radio;
Restaurant and cocktail bar at an altitude of 187 m;

Sight place on the roof - height 200 m.

Garden of palms
In the pavilions of the Palm Garden there are plants of completely different climatic zones - from the polar birches to the Mexican cacti. In Palm House in the subtropical landscape grows several species of palm trees and ferns. To this pavilion adjoins the aquarium. In the Tropicarium there is a flora of savannah, wet desert and tropical forest, and in the Cactus garden succulents from Africa and America. On trees, bushes and even flowers of the coldest places of the planet you can admire in the Subantarctic house, and in the Rose Garden - dozens of kinds of roses.

Frankfurt Cathedral
The largest temple in Frankfurt am Main, where the coronation ceremonies of the Holy Roman Emperors were held earlier. Throughout its history, the Frankfurt Cathedral was the cathedral of the Kaiser, and not the cathedral of the bishopric. Its great significance as a national symbol is based, rather, on the political-historical role in the Holy Roman Empire. In the XIX century the cathedral became a symbol of the unity of the German nation.

Old Opera
Pompous as a palace and magnificent as a wedding cake building of the Old Opera can be called a symbol of Frankfurt am Main. The history of this place is extremely rich and exciting: after almost 60 years of work, for three decades, it lay in ruins in order to reopen in 101 years and appear before the eyes of the discerning audience, thirsting for spectacles.

When to visit Frankfurt:
The climate of Frankfurt, one of the sunniest cities in Germany, is continental, with hot summers and cold winters. The sultry month is August, the coolest is January. Autumn is comfortable: rains and first frosts begin only at the end of November. In the spring the weather is unstable: clear days are followed by sharp cold snaps and torrential downpours. But by the end of May the picture is improving: the temperature stabilizes, the precipitation stops.
